Scented Drawer Liners

With the new year upon us there's no better time to refresh your home with a little cleaning, and reorganizing. But this time, why not treat yourself and fill your home with your most favorite scents in the form of scented drawer liners and potpourri sachets. It will make for a splendid fresh start to this gift of a new year.

Drawer liners make all the difference in the world to your bedroom and your clothes. Each and every time you open your drawer to pull out an outfit for the day or to place a freshly pressed sweater back in, you will be greeted by a delightful welcoming scent fit for a queen! They are absolutely so easy to make too!

All you will need for this project is some heavy weight printed papers which you can find at your local craft stores. Heavy wrapping paper will also work for this project. Then use your favorite perfume to mist the back or your paper. Once it has dried, cut the paper to fit your drawers and place it in. Its that simple! But it is so rewarding.

If you don't want to make your own, you can find these liners at many locations such as department stores or bath and body stores. My favorite scented drawer liners are from Crabtree and Evelyn. My favorite used to be the Rosewater liners, but I think all of this cold weather has lead me more to the Summer Hill liners. They all smell fantastic though!

And if you want to add an extra kick of scent why not add a nice scented sachet to your linen closet? You can find organza sachets at your local craft store and then just fill them with your favorite scents. Old clean canning jars will work just as well. Perhaps you could fill them with rose petals, lavender buds or sandalwood chips with a few drops of your favorite oil (I like to add lavender).

Or, for more of a country fresh feel you could fill your sachets or jars with fresh cinnamon sticks and dried apples. Its easy to dry your own apples too! There are ways to dry apple slices to eat, however this method is specifically for making potpourri, dried wreaths or floral baskets (so please, don't eat them! you'll be sorry!).

Slice your apples from top to bottom 1/4 inch thick. Prepare a mixture of 2 cups of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of salt. Place your apple slices in the mixture and let them soak for 3 minutes. Arrange your apple slices in a single layer on a baking rack and place them in a 150 degree F oven for six hours. The door of the oven should be left ajar and the slices should be flipped if they begin to curl. When the slices are dry they should feel leathery.

I hope you enjoy scenting your home as much as I did! Have fun!
